It’s one of my favorite times of year- time to decorate for spring! I absolutely love the feeling of a fresh new start that spring seems to bring. It has been a record-setting cold and wet year here in Northern California, so while I usually can’t get enough rainy days, I am looking forward to some spring sunshine. I like to put up my spring display starting in late February/early March, because it cheers me up even if I’m jumping the gun a little bit. It’s easy to get caught up in decorating for spring when you have plenty of DIY projects on the list for your farmhouse spring decorations!
Farmhouse Spring Decorations
This year I hemmed and hawed over my spring display for way too long (hello annoying indecisiveness). It’s my first year decorating with a tiered tray, and I hadn’t pulled out any of my spring decor last year, so I had plenty of forgotten treasures to play around with. I love the straightforward, classy, high contrast color scheme of black, white and green for farmhouse spring decorations. Nothing says “farmhouse” like black, white and simple! This year, after way too much agonizing, I decided to add a pop of purple for some color. I also wandered a little bit into French country decor territory, but stopped myself before it got too out of hand!
Rae Dunn Inspired Embroidery Hoop
I have to admit, one of my favorite parts of the whole display is the simple Rae Dunn inspired “Bloom” embroidery hoop that I painted. Talk about the perfect farmhouse spring home decor! While I’d like to say I arranged this shelf to feature it just so, I guess I’ll let you in on a little secret… I leaned the little hoop next to my bird figurine out of convenience while I hung the other two up. I loved how it looked so much I left it there instead of putting it in the tiered tray like I planned. Talk about a happy accident! Want to make your own? Hobby Lobby Spring DIY Upcycle
This “hoppy Easter” sign was another DIY project I did this year, and I was thrilled with how it turned out. It was one of those projects that turns out exactly how you pictured! You would never recognize the original sign I made it from. Yes, that’s right, this is actually a Hobby Lobby upcycle! What?! If you wanna know my secrets for doing amazing upcycling of Hobby Lobby sale pictures, head over to my Hobby Lobby Spring DIY Upcycle Tutorial for all the juicy details π
Farmhouse Fabric Bunnies
How dang cute are these fabric bunnies? I won’t lie, I became a little obsessed with sewing them! They may look like you need some fancy sewing skills to pull them off, but I promise they are, as my boys say, easy peasy lemon squeezy! The big problem is going to be telling yourself you need to stop making them. To see what I mean head over to my Fabric Bunny Tutorial.
How to decorate for spring:
Just for fun I took a few pictures of the display in progress. It looks so empty in that first picture!!! As you can see, I changed things around a lot before I decided I needed to stop fiddling around with it and just enjoy it π
