Elegant Speckled Easter Eggs DIY
I have a confession to make… I’m a Rae Dunn addict. I used to think it was too plain, but once the bug bit me I can’t envision displays anymore without at least one piece of Rae Dunn pottery! When I scored these beautiful Rae Dunn heart egg cups I wanted to craft some elegant eggs to go inside them. I’m calling this an Easter egg project, but really these eye-catching eggs are perfect not just for Easter, but for any spring display.
I did my first set of elegant eggs in a range of pink and purple hues, a second set that look like blue robin’s eggs, a set of white speckled eggs, and lastly a set of yellow speckled eggs. You can use any colors you like! I did the speckles in brown and white… I love the speckles because they create a more natural look, and add some interest to the egg. Embellishing the eggs with feathers, twine, ribbon, fake flowers, etc. also adds a unique touch!
Painted Wooden Eggs Supplies:
- Wooden eggs (Amazon is a great source)
- Paint (Folk Art acrylic paint/chalk paint is my favorite)
- Foam Brushes
- An old/unused toothbrush
- Simply Tacky (optional- helps hold the eggs down while you paint them)
- Embellishments (optional)

My favorite brand of wooden eggs on Amazon is by Woodpeckers; here are three different sizes, plus a set that includes matching egg cups:
